Is Kontera-A Good Alternative-To Adsense?

By

Are you confused about Kontera?

Is Kontera a good alternative to Adsense? First let me start off by saying when I saw a Kontera ad for the first time, I thought it was genius. It is incredible the way Kontera has a word underlined and when you place your mouse icon over it, you see a full color media advertising. I don't know anything about programming but I couldn't help saying to myself, " Hey why didn't I think of that?" It wasn't till I got over the immediate shock of how neat it was that I started realizing a problem with it. Contextual advertising is suppose to correlate with your content, that is the whole purpose of it. Contextual advertising are ads that match up to your subject matter, creating immediate consumer interest. This peaked interest behind what the ads are going to say is what generates a win win situation for both advertisers and publishers. I am currently running a high volume of Kontera ads on my sites but I am thinking about scaling down, or eliminating them all together. I know what some of you are thinking. It is free money right? The ads don't take up any space and you already have Adsense along with it for more revenue. That is the perspective I first had until I really started analyzing it. I coudn't buy a candy bar with my Kontera Revenue and the contextual ads are not matching up. If I were to write an article on the benefits of berries, I would probably get ads about Barry Manilow cd's or Halle Berry movies. I feel it takes away from the originality of my content and weakens my article. Let's just say Kontera's context is matching up perfect and someone clicks on an ad. I more than likely will only make a few cents. I know it is free money but I just gave up a reader for two cents. They are now on another site, they probably didn't finish my article and won't be back because they are now reading something else. Kontera is a great revenue generator for Kontera and for advertisers. Kontera simply isn't worth it for publishers and It is not a good alternative to Google Adsense.

Very true, making money from google adsence is tough and they do match up content, also the software that you can check on keyword prices is easy to use and to understand, loving the hub pages, I am not a born writer but finding it a lot easy to write what i think. The more i write the more ideas and advice i can offer.

Thanks Darren. I would love to hear from anyone making a hundred dollars a month with Kontera or even anyone making fifty dollars.

goood article.. but I do not quite understand about Kontera. Can you explain in more detail my friend?

successfulblogger 2 years ago

Hello Tubir- Sometimes you will see certain words that are underlined in a hub. When you put your cursor over it for a second or two an ad will pop up. The ad is suppose to relate to the particular word. If you write a hub about Hubpages and that word is underlined by Kontera then your reader should get an ad about Hubpages or about online writing. I am noticing that the ads are not corresponding to the underlined word. If you can't find an example of a Kontera ad on Hubpages you can see one on their website.

I have noticed Kontera working on my Hubs, usually when viewing them while not logged in to Hub Pages (you have to be logged out and browsing to see them!) - they pop up and sometimes the ad is related to the word, and other times not. It sure puzzles me. It is not an exact science, and I have often wondered does it turn people off. Looks like you found out. Your Hubs are great! Thanks for becoming a fan of mine. Its lovely to have you on board! : )

Thanks for your feedback Cheeky Girl. I still have mine on, I am going to keep them on for a while to see if anything changes. From what I hear Hubpages is using different ads instead of Kontera. This would be a good way to determine when your ads are active for Kontera revenue.

Interesting information. I do not have Kontera ads on my hubs. How do you feel about Ebay and Amazon?

successfulblogger 2 years ago

Ebay didn't approve me. It was before I had written many hubs. I don't like when a hub looks to commercial. I finally disabled all of my Kontera. I had six clicks this week and made about fifteen cents. I am sometimes making 4 cents just for an impression on my blog.

I believe Kontera has the potential to be a great alternative to Adsense. I have actually earned over $2 in just 4 days of having Kontera activated which I believe is great considering I have only been doing this blogging for cash thing for just about 2 weeks now. If you like the underlined links advertising, http://www.infolinks.com is very similar to Kontera and you earn quite a bit with it too as long as people are clicking. 5 days worth has earned me $6.24.

This is very interesting, I'm new to all this and need all the help I can find. I've signed on to Adsense and to Amazon but nothing else yet. I'll take your advice and I thank you for it.

You are welcome Zac828.

Is there a way we can stop the Vibrant ads on our hubs and only have Kontera ads on the them?

You are sharing the ads with Hubpages. Every time you see the Vibrant ads the revenue will belong to Hubpages. They are doing a test run to see if they are going to run Vibrant. When you see the Kontera ads they belong to you if someone clicks on them. It is a small price to pay for not having to worry about running a website. All we have to do is just write hubs.

A good read

Thanks for the article, I thought it was just me, I'm making a few cents a day (which as you point out isn't really worth the click if I lose a reader)

Nice article. I have found Kontera to work quite well. I have myself tried five google adsense alternatives (compiled info about them in a hub). Kontera is a good one among them. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for this post,

I've been using Kontera on this site now for a few days am not sure if I will keep it. I don't like how long the pop up stays open after you hover over the link.

A lot of people seem to link Infolinks as an alternate. uContext is simple, quick, and embeds in-text links to Clickbank marketplace products.

I will check out ucontext, thanks.
