Facebook-A Social Networking Addiction
Facebook Social Networking
Facebook and other social networking websites, have changed many facets of the internet and how we communicate. For some people Facebook has become like breathing. I am not talking about thirteen year old girls giggling as they text their friends, I am talking about grown adults, waking up in the morning and the first thing they do is check their Facebook. Facebook has become a social networking addiction. Recently a groom updated his Facebook status and then tweeted from his Twitter account, that he was now off limits. The crazy thing is he did it from the alter. I wish I could have seen the faces of all the single ladies who were devasted by the news that this knight in shinining armor was now commited. This happened at Tracy Park and Dana Hanna's wedding. If the groom wasn't being light hearted about the whole thing you would think he was nuts, or would you? What he did isn't out of the ordinary, people on Facebook have gotten a little out of control. This is what a typical post looks like... "Mike is having a great time at the game with Kate, having a dog, beer is a little stale, Dodgers up 4-3 in the seventh". Yes, Mike referred to himself in third person, he thinks he has reached celebrity status and everyone wants to know what he is doing. Even if I am Mike's best friend I should only hear him say something like that if we are having a barbeque and just tapped the keg. I don't need a game update either, I have a television and Vin Scully has done a fine job for six decades. Speaking of sports and social networking Charlie Villanueva just coudn't resist sending out a tweet at half time of a N.B.A. game. I don't know about the rest of you but this is something that I learned in junior high school. You just don't play with your toys in the class room or at work for that matter. In order for Charlie to bring us his tweet he had to have some sort of communication device. This means he pulled his cell phone out during halftime of a game, here is his tweet.
"In da locker room, snuck to post my twitt. We're playing the Celtics, tie ball game at da half. Coach wants more toughness. I gotta step up."
Charlie, I have an idea. How about you put your phone away, listen to what the coach has to say and be prepared before he asks.
For Charlie's next episode, Maybe Charlie will get on Facebook next time and play Mafia Wars or Farmville.
More Addicts Or More Morons?
Do you remember the guy who calls in sick to work? Later that night you turn on the T.V. and as the camera pans by you see him at the Laker parade. That was then and this is now, the liars aren't getting any better. Recently someone called in sick and then posted pictures of themselves on a cruise. Great way to lose your job huh? The punishment wasn't as harsh but they did lose all of their vacation. Are people addicted to social networking? Doogieraz, I am sorry to hear about your temporary dissability and I hope you are better soon. I understand the third person thing but sometimes people talk in the third person all on their own. I have a Facebook,I use it and I agree it is fun.
