Hybrid Cars-Here to Stay?

Hybrid cars are becoming the mainstay for vehicles. Manufactures have made them stylish and as of the last couple of years sport models have been introduced. Hybrid cars are cool and attractive options for many people. Hybrid vehicles have both a gasoline-powered internal combustion engine along with one or several battery-powered electric motors. Hybrid cars and trucks that combined an electric motor with a gasoline engine date back to the turn of the 20th century. Hybrid diesel-electric locomotives have been in operation for years, and diesel-electric buses began to appear in the 1970s. Hybrid cars fit batteries for power storage. But this power is not enough to last long distances and takes many undesirable hours to recharge.Hybrid cars could be defined as an electric car assisted with a gasoline engine. Hybrid cars will also get transponders, which will allow them a free way at tollbooths without paying. Hybrid cars have been built to use electrical energy from both gasoline and battery storage. These cars run by battery, kicking the fuel engine in only when needed.

Hybrid cars are a step forward from the previous all-electric vehicles that ran strictly on plug-in batteries. The problem with the electric cars was the limited range the vehicles had once charged before requiring an additional charge. Hybrid cars are economical and can get up to 55 to 60 mpg in city driving, while a typical SUV might travel 15-20 miles per gallon, or use three times as much gas for the same distance! Hybrid cars are better than all-electric cars because hybrid car batteries recharge as you drive so there is no need to plug in and most electric cars cannot go faster than 50-60 mph. Hybrid cars work flawlessly incorporating gas engine, high-powered battery and an electric motor. The battery generates power for the electric motor and is revitalized by recalling energy that would normally be lost when losing its pace or coasting.

Hybrid cars should get the same kind of recognition Edison did. Hybrid cars are useful to most people. But many other people don't think they need hybrid cars. Hybrid cars certainly have celebrity endorsement. Cameron Diaz was the first Hollywood celebrity to offer her public backing for the vehicles, and she is a proud owner of a Toyota Prius. I think now that hybrid cars have evolved we will see that Cameron Diaz has probably traded her Prius in. Will Americas dependence on oil ever result in an electric car or will the hybrid be as far as we evolve?
